Modi is only PM to defeat Pakistan twice, says Amit Shah in Agra

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Congress and SP and BSP have banded together only to remove Modi
  • Shah said under Modi and Yogi, every house in UP has gas stove, electric connection
  • He said Yogi Adityanath has shown what model governance is

BJP president Amit Shah addressed an election rally today in Agra extolling the achievements of the Modi government. While he criticised the SP-BSP alliance in UP, he did not spare the Congress party either.

Addressing the crowd, Shah claimed that the BJP will win more seats in UP than it did in the 2014 elections. He said that this time PM Modi has the advantage of the five years of selfless service he has put in for the welfare of the 130 crore people of the country, which the Congress couldn’t in 55 years of its reign.

He said PM Modi was the only PM who defeated Pakistan not once, but twice. The Congress and the alliance of SP and BSP have banded together only to remove PM Modi from power even though they do not have even a single leader who fits the criteria to be a prime minister.

He said Mayawati spoke about removing PM Modi but she does not contest elections herself because she knows that the people will reject her. Shah claimed that the alliance will have one prime minister for each day of the week and on Sundays, the PM’s chair will be empty, while PM Modi works 18 hours a day and has not taken any leave in the past 5 years.

Shah said other parties have ruled UP for 20 years, but the state did not develop and neither did corruption go away, whereas, under Modi and Yogi, every house has a gas stove, electric connection, and toilet in the state. He said Yogi Adityanath has shown what model governance is, by not asking for the caste of anyone seeking government assistance.

He said under the Modi government, there were no scams and terrorism was wiped out from the country. He said India stands proudly in the world community because of Modi today.

Commenting on Samajwadi Party leader Ramgopal Yadav, Amit Shah questioned if terroristswere Yadav’s brothers since he spoke about saving them.
He said the country can remain safe only under Modi and the 130 crore people in India should make it their goal this April to make Modi the prime minister again.

Addressing the rally, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said that in 2014, the election was contested on Narendra Modi’s name and the people gave an overwhelming response by electing Modi as prime minister. This time too, the whole country wants Modi to become the PM.

He said that Modi has brought schemes for the welfare of every section of society. in UP alone, Modi has given 23 lakh houses to the poor people. 2 crore 14 lakh farmers have benefited from the Modi government’s schemes. In UP, organized crime has been wiped out and security has been tightened. Criminals are either in jail or dead. The Kumbh this year has been exemplary and an event of this magnitude has not been held in the state since independence.

The event will be held at Tagore School auditorium in Jaipur where nearly 4,000 youths will participate. The event will be live streamed and Shah will take questions from youths present there and also from those at six other locations — Bharatpur, Udaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Bikaner.

BJP president Amit Shah will hold talks with youths of poll-bound Rajasthan on November 21 in Jaipur, Union minister Rajyavardhan Rathore said on Sunday.

The main event will be held at Tagore School auditorium in Jaipur where nearly 4,000 youths will participate. The event will be live streamed and Shah will take questions from youths present there and also from those at six other locations — Bharatpur, Udaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Bikaner, Rathore said at a press conference in Jaipur.

Apart from these places, town hall meetings will be held in other 200 locations across the state where youths will be present, Rathore said, adding questions from youths who will be present at these locations will be registered beforehand and they will not be able to ask question during the programme.

“India is emerging as a strong nation due to the vision and energy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Youths understand this. Social media has brought awareness among people on issues, be it political or any other. BJP has always has held dialogues with youths and therefore, the party present is going to communicate with the state’s youths on November 21,” he said.

Rathore said that questions can be asked through social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Assembly polls in Rajasthan will be held on December 7.

Swami Paripoornananda Joins BJP, May Campaign In Telangana Elections

Swami Paripoornananda, head of Sree Peetham mutt, joined the BJP today in the presence of party president Amit Shah. He is likely to be a key face of the BJP in the two Telugu speaking states in India – Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. His entry is particularly significant given the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana.

Reports suggest he is interested in contesting from Telangana either in the state polls or in the 2019 general election.

“I am happy to be part of this party…I am grateful to BJP president Amit Shah and Ram Madhav ji. I will follow them and work,” he said after being welcomed into the party by Amit Shah and BJP general secretary Ram Madhav

“I will work 24*7. I need nothing because Telugu people have given me a lot. I come here as a karmachari (worker) and will remain a karmayogi (one who desires nothing for his work),” Swami Paripoornananda said at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.

Swami Paripoornananda, often described as the “Yogi Adityanath of the south”, was banned from Hyderabad for six months in July for allegedly making provocative statements. The Hyderabad High Court suspended the ban in August.

Though his Mutt is located in Kakinada in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, he has a significant following in Telangana as well.

Earlier this year, Swami Paripoornananda had demanded the arrest of Telugu actor and movie critic Kathi Mahesh over his alleged statements against Hindu deities and said he had “hurt” Hindu sentiment.

“It is a day of joy for the BJP because Swami Paripoornananda has joined the party. He has contributed immensely in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and all the southern states in the fields of social work, religion and public awakening…Earlier his blessings were with us, now he is with us himself,” Amit Shah said, welcoming Swami Paripoornananda into the party.

“We expect that his joining the party will benefit the BJP across the south, especially in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. I believe his entry will energise the party in the Telangana elections and increase our chances of victory,” the BJP president added.

Ensure BJP wins over 65 seats in Chhattisgarh: Amit Shah tells party Karyakartas

Shah claimed that the presence of nearly one lakh booth-level workers and their eagerness showed that the BJP would win 65-plus seats in the forthcoming state Assembly polls

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on October 13 asked the party workers to ensure that the saffron party retained power in Chhattisgarh in next month’s Assembly election by winning over 65 of the 90 seats.

The Chhattisgarh Assembly polls will be held in two phases — on November 12 and 20 — and the counting of votes will be taken up on December 11.

Shah was addressing a convention of the booth-level BJP workers from Raipur and Durg divisions at the Science College ground here.

He told the workers that the BJP had reached the “pinnacle of success”, but its target would only be achieved when it attained power in states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal.

Shah claimed that the presence of nearly one lakh booth-level workers and their eagerness showed that the BJP would win 65-plus seats in the forthcoming state Assembly polls.

“From 10 members, the party has grown to 11 crore members, becoming the world’s largest party. We have 1,800 MLAs, 330 MPs, governments in 19 states and a government at the Centre with full majority. The BJP flag is being hoisted over 70 per cent of the country’s area and the credit for it goes to the booth workers,” he said.

“Our struggle started in 1950 and today, we are fortunate to see this grand form of the party. The journey was not simple. Lakhs of our workers devoted and sacrificed their lives, as a result of which the party has reached here,” Shah said, adding that the workers of the saffron party continued to “sacrifice their lives” in Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

“As a result of a long struggle, the party has reached the pinnacle of success. But do not consider it as a success because Bengal, Kerala, Telangana and Tamil Nadu are yet to be won,” he said.

“Party workers all over the country are watching the (upcoming) Assembly elections. The victories in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh should be such that they create a tsunami, which will ensure victory from West Bengal to Kerala,” the BJP chief told the gathering.

He said BJP workers were thrashed when Ajit Jogi (formerly with the Congress and now the chief of the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh) was the chief minister of the state from 2000 to 2003.

Naxalism had thrived in the state under the Congress regime, Shah said, adding that it was crushed during the 15-year rule of Chief Minister Raman Singh.

Heaping praise on Singh, the BJP chief said the chief minister had turned Chhattisgarh from a “bimaru” (backward) state to a “fast developing” state.

He said Singh now wanted to make Chhattisgarh a prosperous state over the next five years.

Shah told the booth-level workers of his party that poll victory would be achieved when they visited every house in their areas to apprise the people of the ruling BJP’s achievements.

He hit out at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ordering surgical strikes in September, 2016 to smash terror camps operating out of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases from November 12 this year.

Amit Shah Launches BJP’s Mass Contact Campaign In Madhya Pradesh

BJP president Amit Shah today formally launched the party’s mass contact campaign in the Malwa-Nimad region of poll-bound Madhya Pradesh.

Mr Shah launched the ‘Maha Jansampark Abhiyan’ from the Rajwada area and sought support from the people for his party in the upcoming polls.

He garlanded a statue of Ahilyabai Holkar, a former queen of the kingdom of Malwa, in front of the historic Rajwada Palace of the erstwhile Holkar dynasty.

Mr Shah also offered prayers at a Mahalaxmi temple located in the vicinity.

The BJP chief launched the campaign from a famous ‘paan shop’ in Rajwada and its owner offered a ‘paan‘ to Mr Shah.

Standing on the foot-board of his vehicle, Mr Shah greeted the people gathered in the area and then travelled from Rajwada Palace to Krishnapura Chhatri, covering a distance of about half-a-kilometer.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who is the BJP MP from Indore, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other senior party leaders accompanied Mr Shah.

The mass contact programme will cover the Malwa-Nimar region of western Madhya Pradesh, an area considered a BJP bastion.

Amit Shah: Congress colluded with Maoists to retain power in Chhattisgarh

Targeting the Congress ahead of the state Assembly polls over various issues, Shah challenged the opposition party to an open debate on its development track record.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Friday accused the Congress of forging “ties with Naxals” to remain in power in Chhattisgarh before 2003.

The BJP government in the state had succeeded in containing the Maoist menace, Shah said, addressing a tribal convention at Narharpur in the insurgency-hit Kanker district.

Targeting the Congress ahead of the state Assembly polls over various issues, he challenged the opposition party to an open debate on its development track record.

The convention marked the conclusion of the Atal Vikas Yatra campaign launched by Chief Minister Raman Singh to highlight the achievements of his 15-year rule.

“Chhattisgarh once reverberated with the sound of bullets…. I have no hesitation in saying that the earlier Congress government (before the BJP came to power in the state in 2003) had forged ties with Naxals to stay in power. We broke that nexus and cracked down on Naxals.

“Entire Chhattisgarh is gradually getting rid of Naxalism and heading on the path of development,” Shah said.

When Chhattisgarh came into existence, it was dubbed as one of the “Bimaru (backward/sick) states and despite being in power for the initial three years, the Congress did nothing to boost its economic growth, he alleged.

The Congress did nothing to maintain law and order, curb Naxalism, eradicate hunger and uplift the forest-dwellers, despite being in power for 55 years at the Centre, the BJP chief said.

“Atalji (then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee) founded the state and Raman Singh developed it,” he said.

Shah mentioned the 24-hour power supply, road connectivity in the interior villages, purchase of forest produce at a minimum support price and other development works as some of Singh’s achievements in the last 15 years.

He slammed the Congress over a scandal triggered by the circulation of a “sex CD”, purportedly featuring state Public Works Department Minister Rajesh Munat. Munat has filed a case against state Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel for allegedly trying to malign his image by circulating the CD.

“The BJP will be contesting the polls under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Singh, but I want to ask Congress president Rahul Baba (Rahul Gandhi), who will lead the Congress? Will it be those who shamefully manufacture fake CDs for character assassination?” Shah asked.

“Are you (Gandhi) going ahead with a leader, who allegedly indulged in character assassination through fake CDs for seeking the mandate in Chhattisgarh?”

“Our mothers and sisters here are waiting to settle the score over the CD issue and rout the Congress,” he said.

The BJP never indulged in the politics of “chaturai” (cunningness), Shah said.

He challenged the Congress to a debate on the work done during Modi’s four-year rule and Raman Singh’s 15-year tenure as against the opposition party’s “55-year rule”.

“People have two options in the coming polls. The first is the Congress which only talked about ‘garibi hatao’ (remove poverty) but removed the poor instead, while the other is the BJP, which, without raising slogans, ensured power supply to every house, provided houses for all, built toilets and gave bonus to the Tendu leaf collectors,” Shah said.

Earlier, after arriving at the Raipur airport, Shah flew in a helicopter to Sihawa, the origin of the Mahanadi river in Dhamtari district, where he offered prayers at the Mahamai Temple at Farsia village.

Shah’s visit to Sihawa and Narharpur is being seen by political observers as an attempt to woo the tribal population of Chhattisgarh.

The Assembly polls are scheduled to be held in the state later this year.
